Frequently asked questions

About the rental proces

Do I have to pay a deposit?

No, we do not take a deposit from you. In return we require a full legitimation from you (passport) and full payment when picking up your bike. And we expect you to return the bike in time.

Can I pay with credit card?

You can pay with credit card at our shop in Turesensgade, not in Ingerslevsgade. On foreign credit cards we charge a fee of 3,75 %.

Can I receive an invoice and pay upon that?

Yes, if you rent ten or more bikes for a group. We need an official order from you(r company) by e-mail in advance with full details of you(r company). Otherwise you have to pay when you pick up the bicycle(s).

What should I do if the rental bike has a flat tire?

A flat tire is irritating but not to avoid in general. If bad luck strikes you and your rental bike gets a punctured tire, you take it to the closest of our two rental shops. There we will replace your bike. If you are not close to one of the shops, you can take the surface train (s-tog) which transports your bike for free.

What can I do if the rental bike breaks down because of ...?

If you discover mayor problems with the bike that make riding unpleasant or impossible, please take it to the closest of our two shops. We will provide you with another bike. If you are not close to one of the shops, you can take the surface train (s-tog) which transports your bike for free.

If I like the rental bike, can I buy it?

No, we do not sell our rental bikes. But you can have a look at our broad collection of second hand bikes in the shop at Ingerslevsgade. For sure you find a bicycle similar to your rental bike.

How can I make a reservation for a group?

Details of the bikes

Do your bikes come with a lock?

Yes, all our bikes come with a lock and you get the key for the bike you rent.

How many gears do your bicycles have?

Since we have a varied collection of bikes you will find bikes with gears between 0 and 27. Most of our bikes come with 5, 7 or 8 internal gears. For sure you find the amount of gears you need.

I heard in Denmark you have back pedal brakes. I am no used to it, can I get a bike with manual brakes?

Many of our bikes are equipped with a back pedal brake and a manual front brake. And we see that most people are comfortable with these after a few minutes of riding. But we also offer bikes with manual front and rear brakes and free wheeling hubs.

Do you rent fixies?

No, we don't.

Are your bikes equipped with lights?

No, due to many reasons (where frequent loss and damage is only one) we do not rent out our bicycles with lights. According to Danish law you need lights if you cycle in the dark and therefore we advice you to bring your own or buy some (as a souvenir) in our shop. Mini lights cost about 30,- (equals to 4 EUR, 5 USD) a set.

Do your bicycles have air condition?

Yes, and those work best at an average speed of 17 km/h.

Travelling/touring bikes

Do you offer touring bikes?
I want to travel through Denmark, can I rent an adequate bicycle from you?

The simple answer is: maybe. We experience that people have very different expectations towards touring and travel bikes. Some need just a sound bike, others want front and rear racks for a particular kind of pannier system and know what size of tires would fit best. Furthermore people expect a specific frame size and geometry to fit their body size. And we think all these people are right. Therefore we may have the right bike for you in our collection but we can not accept a reservation for bikes according to specific requirements.

So, what should I do?

Advice from our colleagues who travel by bike themselves: bring your own bike and make an appointment with our work shop to reassemble your bike after the flight to Denmark. You can store your transportation box or bag at our shop.

I can not bring my own bike. What can I do?

If you can not bring your own bike, come a day or two earlier and buy a second hand bike and adjust it to your needs. We have a broad collection of second hand bikes at our shop in Ingerslevsgade. Our colleagues there will help you. Prices start from 1.500 DKK (equals to 200 EUR, 300 USD) and go up to 3.000 DKK. We offer a buy back option where you can get back between 20 and 60 % of the purchase price you paid.

Are there sign posted cycle routes in Copenhagen/Denmark?

There are a lot of sign posted routes all over Denmark. And some of them lead you through Copenhagen.

Additionally there are proper bike lanes throughout all the city. Of course you have to take care yourself and drive as carefully as you can. Look how others cyclists act and go with the flow.

How about in the country side, is cycling safe there, too?

Yes, it is. And you will find lots of quite roads with very little traffic. So, cycling in the Danish country side is a great and safe experience.
